Condolences to the Sisters of St Louis on the passing of Sr Eilís Ní Thiarnaigh SSL. Sr Eilís was principal in SLHS from 1976-1980. She was a lovely, warm person who continued to have a great interest in the school’s development over the years. She lived in St Genevieve’s before moving into a nursing home a few years ago. She was a wonderful historian and theologian and had a deep appreciation for Gaeilge and culture. She oversaw much development in the school during her time as principal. Along with overseeing the development of the pilot TY programme, the first school magazine was printed in 1976, the first inter-class choral festival was established in that same year and the first careers seminar for 6th Yrs commenced in 1978. Wonderful to see these continuing in different guises now as our year book, concerts, musicals, variety shows and careers day. Her funeral is tomorrow, Friday 6th June at 11am in Rathmines Church. The Convent is receiving her this afternoon at 3pm and visitors are welcome from 4-6pm in the Convent to pay respects.
