On the 4th of November, four of our junior debaters, Simona, Moram, Sylvia and Nora, put their debating skills to the test at Round 1 of the Junior Schools Debating Competition in UCD. The students debated the motion: “This House Believes That Celebrities Have an Obligation to Act as Role Models.”
All four students spoke with confidence and distinction, delivering their arguments to an exceptionally high standard against competitors from schools across Leinster.
A particularly notable achievement was secured by Sylvia and Nora, who won first place in their debate as First Opposition. This excellent result is a testament to their preparation, teamwork and debating ability.
The team is now looking forward to participating in Round 2 in the coming weeks.
Sincere thanks to Mr McGrattan and Ms Ronayne for their continued support and encouragement of the SLHS Debating Team.
