TECHNOLOGY – the use of devices in school

As you are aware as parents/guardians, students are not permitted to use their phones in school. The use of tablets and laptops is permitted for educational purposes but not as a replacement for phones. We have noted that quite a number of students have downloaded social media apps and other apps that are not permitted to be used in school onto their devices eg Netflix; Spotify; Youtube; Instagram; Whatsapp; Pinterest; Tik Tok and several others. These must be removed from the devices they use in school. These devices should only be used for educational purposes. If used inappropriately, they are a distraction and take away from the positive learning environment in school. We ask you to support us in our efforts by checking your child’s device this evening to ensure all apps not suitable for the school context are removed. The devices should only be used to access downloaded schoolbooks and Office teams. Please be advised if students continue to have these types of apps on their devices we may need to impose sanctions in line with our Acceptable Use Policy and Code of Behaviour.
