We are excited to announce that our school has been selected to participate in the newly launched NFL Flag Football programme in Ireland, sponsored by the New York Jets! This fantastic opportunity is part of a nationwide initiative to introduce students to the exciting world of American football, and our school is one of just eight selected to take part.
As part of this exclusive programme, ten of our talented students were chosen for the team, marking the start of an unforgettable journey. The team kicked off with a special panel talk featuring “Her Sport,” followed by an incredible opportunity to interact with players from the New York Jets, getting first-hand insights into the world of professional football.
The excitement didn’t stop there – our players had their official school kit revealed and received expert coaching on key skills. Finally, they hit the field for their first match, where they triumphed in a dominant 66-6 victory, showcasing both skill and teamwork.
Leading by example on the day was team captain Ana Andreica, whose leadership and performance were outstanding. Ana was interviewed by RTE, which was broadcast on the six o’clock news. She represented the team and our school with dignity and pride.
Our players are coached by Ms. Begley and Mr. O’Donnell, who have been instrumental in guiding the team through the training sessions. The programme promises to offer more incredible experiences as our students continue to develop their flag football skills.
