Europe Day is celebrated annually on May 9th to promote peace and unity in Europe. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Ireland’s membership of the European Union. We celebrated the occasion, along with many schools participating in the EU50 Ár nAmhrán innitiative, with the raising of our new EU flag, followed by a selection of readings, music and poetry performed by students and staff. The event concluded with the singing of Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’, the official anthem of the European Union. Many thanks to all who participated in this event.
