Transition Year Testing Tuesday October 21st – all morning
October 15, 2025
All Transition Year students will sit a set of aptitude tests on Tuesday October 21st in the morning time from 08:30 am until lunch-time. Please ensure that your child is in school on that date, unless she is sick, and that she is on time. We ask that appointments would be scheduled for another day. Students must have a fully charged device, ear pods/headphones, a pencil, a rubber and a pencil sharpener with them on the day.
These tests will measure your child’s aptitude for verbal, numerical, spatial and non-verbal reasoning. They form the basis of one-to-one guidance appointments which take place for Transition Years to guide subject choice into the senior cycle, and subsequent educational and career choices in fifth and sixth year. These results can also help with identifying any additional learning needs or supports required across the year group.
Please ensure that your child is in school on Tues October 21st, in time to start the tests at 8.30am sharp, unless she is sick. We ask that appointments be scheduled for another day.
Parents/guardians of Transition Years can also expect a meeting next term (Wednesday January 21st) on preparing for subject choice in the senior cycle, and next steps in supporting your daughter in her educational journey. Currently students are engaged in a weekly class of career guidance, where we follow the Reach + programme as part of career development and research. Students are encouraged to engage with the apps in the areas of career planning and self-assessment, and complete career assignments to research a variety of course and career options that may be of interest in the future.
