Berlin 2024

The German and History trip to Berlin was a great success. It was a busy and fun filled cultural experience for all. Students got to visit scenes of historical importance from the Brandenburg Gate to Checkpoint Charlie and Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp to name but a few. Berlin has a wealth of museums and we visited quite a few. A highlight for many was the Spy Museum where laser challenges and lie detectors were ventured by both teachers and students alike. All modes of transport were availed of, from walking through the city on the morning of day two, to catching the U Bahn and the S Bahn and even a boat trip on the River Spree on our final afternoon.
We managed to visit three Christmas markets and even had a taste of warmer climes in Germany’s very own Tropical Island.
We packed a lot in and happily the students were interested and cheerful throughout, revelling in their time in a city in the heart of Europe and at the heart of so many historical events. Ms. MacLennan, Ms. Duggan, the fifth and sixth year students and I, will forever be thankful to our intrepid leaders, Ms. Earwaker and Ms. Muldoon, who organised and navigated this trip with vitality and grace. Bis zum nächsten Mal!
