St Louis HIgh School's FUNDRAISING efforts

It is always important to remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves. With this in mind, a lot of fundraising for different charities was carried out by students, staff and the parents' council in the school. Many events were held over the course of the last few weeks  to raise much-needed funds for the Fr Peter McVerry trust, Trócaire - Syrian Crisis appeal, Pieta House, ARK and two orphanages in India and Tanzania.  Concerts, raffles, bake sales, coffee mornings, special student breakfast and a civvies day were all held and proved very successful. We also collected for Team Hope with the shoe box appeal and for the Vincent de Paul by collecting much-needed items to create hampers for families in need at Christmas. Well done to one and all and we hope that our efforts have helped many families this Christmas.

Congratulations to all our award winners in our recent Christmas Awards ceremonies. Each assembly commenced with a reflection on Christmas. Students were acknowledged for their efforts in attendance and punctuality, effort and co-operation and academic achievement. Well done to all students who were nominated in each catergory. Keep up your good efforts.  Please view our slideshow of our recipients in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Yrs.

TY Ice Skating Trip

The TYs enjoyed a trip to Dundrum on Ice on Wednesday 21st December. Here they are pictured before they set off on their ice skating adventure. Thank you to the TY team of Ms McNamee and Ms Rodgers who organised the trip and to Ms Donnelly and Ms McArdle who also accompanied.

Rathmines Old Folks Party and TYs

Congratulations to all the TY students who gave so generously of their time to help out at the Rathmines Community Old Folks party in McGowan's, Harold's Cross on Thursday 15th December last. They were wonderful ambassadors for the school and their contribution was very much appreciated by the guests and the Gardaí who organised the event. Thank you to Darina, Ms Beglin and to Ms Cooney who helped out also on the evening. Well done girls.

Christmas Carol Singing

One of the greatest gifts at Christmas time is the gift of music, because it brings people together. On the 20th of December, students from first to sixth year came together to sing Christmas carols and to spread some festive cheer at our local Tesco, Rathmines. We sang carols and were accompanied by very talented musicians playing instruments from violins and flutes to ukuleles and sleigh bells! We put smiles on the customers’ faces, got some requests and were even joined by a past pupil and our Principal. It was a wonderful experience, great fun and we managed to raise money for our school. Thank you to MS Kehoe who organised the event.
